I was referred by a current FCI employee. Do I need to do anything special?

Yes! Be certain to include the name of the employee who referred you when you complete your online application.

I am a former FCI employee looking to return to the company. Do I need to do anything special?

Yes! Be sure to clearly indicate your dates of prior service with FCI when you complete your application. It would also be helpful if you can include the name of your former supervisor(s), former title(s), and assigned work location(s).

The position I’m interested in applying for requires a security clearance and I don’t have one. What should I do?

You must complete the interview process and once your receive and accept the official offer of employment the FCI Security Officer will contact you to begin the process for you to complete the clearance application required for the position you accepted. Your official start date will be contingent upon you receiving an interim collateral security clearance and subsequent final DoD security clearance.

If I don’t have a clearance, how long does it take to get one?

It usually takes approximately seven to ten business days, once the application process is submitted, to receive an interim security clearance. It can take up to 90 days to receive the final collateral security clearance without SCI access.

The position I’m interested in requires a different clearance then what I currently have. What will this mean if I am hired?

In accordance NISPOM directives, employees are only allowed to hold the security clearance for the position they are being hired for, regardless if the clearance they currently hold is higher than the job they accepted. If a new employee holds a higher clearance than what is required for the position they accepted, their higher clearance is held in abeyance and is still available to be assigned “immediately”, as long as the investigation window of the assigned higher clearance has not expired or lapsed regardless of who holds the clearance.

What materials should I include to apply for an open position?

You will apply for a position using our online Applicant Tracking System. This system will allow you to upload a cover letter and a resume.

What is FCI’s interview process?

Our interview process typically includes the following steps:

  1. Completion of online application
  2. Verification of security clearance
  3. An interview or interviews (may include phone screenings)


What are the hours I’ll be expected to work?

Core work hours are typically between 8:00am and 5:00pm, however factors such as staffing levels, operational tempos, and prevailing hours for a given team, department, or agency may dictate a variation of that.

What is the dress code?

While employed at FCI your use of discretion in style or dress and behavior is essential to the productive and efficient operation of the workplace. Dressing appropriately for a business environment should be important to you and is important to FCI. Therefore, while performing duties for FCI, you are expected to dress in attire appropriate to the business environment, and behave in a professional and businesslike manner.

What is FCI’s performance appraisal process?

FCI employees typically receive a performance appraisal once per year. Occasionally circumstances may dictate an out of cycle review as well.
